Entering Amounts on the Outgoing Wire Transfer Form

A common entry error when completing the wire transfer form is departments incorrectly entering the amount to be paid to the recipient. Entering the correct amount ensures that the payee gets the correct payment amount and reduces time and confusion for A/P when processing the wire transfer.

When completing the form, enter EITHER:

  • the CAD equivalent to be paid, and the payment currency. DO NOT CONVERT the CAD amount to the payment currency. This conversion will be done by Convera.
  • the amount in payment currency. The department will be charged the appropriate CAD equivalent based on Convera’s conversion.

If the expenses were incurred in non-CAD, and they beneficiary wants to receive in a currency not available in FIS (i.e. USD, EUR, JPY, SGD, HKD), then the department can either:

  • convert the expense(s) to CAD (or USD), and enter it in the CAD $ EQUIV field while also indicating the PAYMENT CURRENCY
  • convert the expense(s) to the PAYMENT CURRENCY and enter the amount in that field.

NOTE: If the currency the beneficiary will be paid is not listed in the Wire Transfer form, please indicated it in the email to Accounts Payable ().
