Lunch & Learn – May 2024 – Exploring the University’s Tax Treatment and Tax Codes on Expenses and Revenues

The FAST team hosts a series of short (30 – 45 minute) virtual presentations on topics of interest for financial administrators at all levels.

All sessions will be recorded and presented by FAST, and often in collaboration with other units.

There is no registration required.

This month’s session will be held on Wednesday, May 29th (12pm – 1pm) via MS Teams, and will be presented by the F.A.S.T Team.

Topic: Exploring the University’s Tax Treatment and Tax Codes on Expenses and Revenues

Topics include:

• What is the University’s tax status and rebate as a Broader Public Sector organization
• GTFM policy governing HST
• The University’s tax codes
• Assessing scenarios and applying the most appropriate tax code
• Tax codes and conference fees
• Situations that warrant self-assessing taxes
• Who to contact with tax treatment questions
